Gill Hamer DL , has over 40 years as a public servant working in local government , national government and overseas for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Her last full-time role was as the CEO of the Marches Local Enterprise Partnership where she bid for and managed capital and revenue projects worth over £200m from 2015 – 2021. She was appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant (DL) for the County of Shropshire in 2021 and a Governor of Shrewsbury School in January 2024.

Gill has a long experience of programme and financial management, bid writing for grants and public funds and drafting and delivering business plans and strategies . She is passionate about good governance as donors and funders alike need to know that their funds will be well managed and that they will make a difference.

Gill was born and raised on a farm in rural Shropshire and after working away for many years she now lives back in the countryside where she enjoys walking her two very excitable cocker spaniels . Since retiring in 2021 Gill undertakes various voluntary roles including being the lead DL for the Shropshire Lieutenancy for seeking nominations for the Kings Award for Voluntary Service and being a member of a fund-raising board for the Derwen College near Oswestry which is a college for young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
