Richard Barrett

Richard has over 15 years’ experience in education and biomedical research, working in roles across independent schools, examination boards, and university research teams. He brings expertise in safeguarding, pastoral care, and governance.

As a trustee, Richard draws on his extensive experience at Shrewsbury School—particularly in safeguarding and pupil welfare—to support the charity’s programmes that engage and empower young people. He is particularly passionate about instilling values of volunteering and service, which he sees as foundational to personal growth and community responsibility.

Outside of work, Richard enjoys adventures in the Welsh hills with his wife and three children, and is actively involved in community initiatives that promote youth development and wellbeing
